youtube recommended me the GAMEOVERSE pilot like two days ago. i ignored it cause i was like "i don't watch glitch shows yet tbh idk"
but then i kept seeing people talk about it so maybe the Twitter algorithm was like "you might like this one i think"

basically, GAMEOVERSE is some sci-fi/game-ish universe where planets are game worlds. when the Win Condition is met, the game Ends
this is something the main characters are trying to prevent because the world dies when it happens
idk how to explain it but idk it's just a doomsday vibe. sky turns red, geisers of evil magic keep coming from the ground.
main characters are named kit and kaboose

anyways they're basically a ratchet and clank clone, but kit can uses kaboose as a mecha suit plus backpack, and kaboose is schlatt
like literally schlatt voices him LMAOOO
anyways i guess it's was kinda cool. everything was weird to me because it feels like a show for 12 year olds but schlatt-bot swears sometimes, and so did the villians like once or twice.
i guess that's a glitch thing tho
kit seems like a good character in theory, but all her lore is rushed in the first 2 minutes, and then we get like one or two flashbacks in the story.
nothing wrong with this, but we do this same thing when they go on one of their prevent ending adventures, except it's THE REST OF THE EPISODE so all the emotional weight is in some random character
AND THE WORSE PART IS THE MAIN CHARACTER OF THE PLANET IS THIS ANNOYING ASS DOLPHIN!!!
like WHAT
why is this stupid dolphin getting more time to flesh out his lore, but we don't care about this main character!!!
TO BE CLEAR, i do think this premise makes sense, showing what can go wrong. it's good for a pilot, y'know.
but like, the contrast in time and depth between Kit and flappers/flippers/echo the dolphin (whatever i hate him) is too much tbh
i think this is also made worse by the fact they have kit go through like PTSD episodes when something happens that remind her of when she beat her game and it got destroyed (lore drop mybad)
no hate obviously to PTSD but as a watcher it didn't feel deserved
like in puss in boots movie i felt bad for puss because we saw his fear develop when the Literal Personfication of Death started hunting him, but idk it ain't the same for kit. there wasn't enough build up to justify that amount of focus

health was cool. i liked how every character had their own health kit item that heals them. kit had a juice box, that paper guy had glue, kaboose had... a wrench, idk i forgot
the spaceship kit has literally wacks itself with a wrench for over half the episode (off-screen mostly), which is very funny
as a game developer i'm not exactly sure how i feel about the characters just Creating their own health kits
at least, that's what it looked like to me
the alternative assumption is that they have an inventory that we've only seen for health kits
kaboose is half backpack so he has that magic storage system too but it feels different because he's a character designed to store stuff.
u telling me kit and the dophin have ways of storing stuff?

idk. it wasn't bad. mostly rushed, focused too much on the dolphin lore, also the dolphin voice sucks (not the voice actor but the direction).
schlatt's audio filter to make him sound robotic was terrible. permaban the person who came up with that
on rewatch it wasn't as bad but the effect was still mediocre at best
i still think the premise is kinda mid ngl
also they need to self-insert me and put me in some game world for real
(delusions took over again)
pros:
kit is an interesting character. i like her powers
kaboose is funny
the villian henchmen (paper and princess peach(no i'm not explaining who they are if you haven't seen it idc anymore)) are pretty funny
artstyle is cool
