why do you have a qna section

i like to yap

technical

how did you make this website?

  • eleventy/11ty: static site generator
  • cloudflare: hosting/domain
  • pages cms: content mangement system

js/css frameworks?

no

vanilla js because this site is small and i don't want to deal with types

(but also because 11ty doesn't seem to be built with typescript in mind, so i'd rather not deal with that.)

css i'm using the bem naming convention, if you know what that is.

what's a content management system

place where you can add pages and posts and what not.

it's the middle ground between making non-developers learn git and your entire build system, and emailing developers what changes you want or something.

pages cms is a pretty simple one, but it works very well for my needs (basic hosting).

isn't it bad practice to have your domain registrar and web hosting under the same company?

that's what i heard, but i don't think it really matters for static sites.

i could've hosted it somewhere else (firebase, vercel, even github has support for it), but cloudflare has a pretty streamlined system.

i don't code. i have no idea what you just said

  • domain registrar: the company i paid to use rambles.rovidecena.com
  • web hosting: the company i paid to store my website files somewhere other people can see them

you didn't pay for web hosting

yeah
